Using false teeth today is a common place procedure. As medical advancements have grown over the past few centuries we tend to lose sight of how good we have it. Long time ago, early 1800s, replacement teeth became popular along with the demand for high quality false teeth. There was a new business born; a business of false teeth.

People started scavenging battlefields pulling the teeth of the dead to sell back to dentists. Soldiers proved to have higher quality teeth than that of the poor person that sells their teeth or other pulled teeth. The high quality of the soldiers’ teeth was attributed to their age, diet and the higher standards of health care the military were afforded. The false teeth made from fallen soldiers’ teeth also became fashion accessories and were worn with pride by the affluent.

Today we use rubbers and plastics to create the most comfortable set of dentures and there is no doubt that this too will be improved as time goes on.
