Preparing for Permanent Hair Removal Treatment

So you finally made the decision to try a permanent hair removal treatment such as laser hair removal. In my research I have found a few things you can do to prepare for your treatment and some things to avoid. The Mayo Clinic recommends shaving the target area before you go in for the treatment. Studies have shown that this increases the effectiveness of the treatment.

Things you want to avoid before the treatment are waxing, plucking and electrolysis. These may seem like a good idea to “help” the process but they actually interfere with the treatment. Tanning before a treatment should also be avoided as this will increase the risk of the laser damaging the pigment in the skin. You should consult a certified doctor before you have laser hair removal so that you can make sure you are healthy and if it is safe for your to have this type of treatment.
