There are tons of articles about the top acne home remedies on the internet and I myself have even written some. For today’s article I want to take a skewed look at the top treatments and explore what some un-popular remedies for acne are. In my research I looked for possible acne solutions that may work but some people (myself included) would rather avoid. I also looked at treatments that anyone can do in the comfort of their own home, hence the title “Acne Home Remedies.”
#5: Drinking Water
Doctors have been saying for years that we need to drink at least 6 glasses of water a day. This sounds easy but when you get down to it water is bland. If I am eating then I can drink a glass of water. If I have just come in from working out I can devour bottles of water. But when after the third glass I start to want something tasty to drink. Some alternatives to drinking plain water are to drink green tea, Gatorade, or sugarless drink mixes that you can find in the juice isle.
#4: No Milk
Researchers are now finding that the hormones in cow’s milk can affect breakouts. What’s worse is that skim milk seems to spur on breakouts even more. The verdict is to stay away from milk if you suffer from acne breakouts because milk can agitate the issue. That means no more cereal in the morning and I love my cereal. Some alternatives to drinking milk are to take vitamin D and calcium supplements so that our bodies can still get the nutrients they need. Switching to an oatmeal or bran muffin for breakfast instead of cereal can satisfy those morning munchies.
#3: Oatmeal Mask
Speaking of breakfast our next un-popular acne home remedy is an old fashioned oatmeal mask. For some this works great to clear up pimples on the face but for others it is just weird and icky. In my search for users’ comments on this subject I found that lots of people had trouble keeping their masks on their face. This can be very messy, especially if you try to sleep with it on, and a pain to clean off. Another way to get the same results is to use deep pore cleanser to get out the dirt and gunk that is built up in there. Once or twice a day should be enough and if your skin starts to dry out you can apply a moisturizer to help the dryness.
In my next post I will reveal the final 2 spots of my top 5 most un-popular acne home remedies list. I know its cheesy but “…stay tuned for the thrilling conclusion!”
