We have already discussed the importance of brushing your teeth and braces regularly and now we will talk about flossing and using mouthwash.
You can use a floss stick or the thread to floss between your teeth and the braces but a better alternative is to use a water floss system. The water floss system is a device that has a small brush affixed to a long narrow shaft that also sprays a burst of water. The brush helps to get into the crevices of the wires and gums and the water helps flush out the debris.
The final step should be to use a mouthwash that has fluoride in it to help fight the bacteria and decay of the teeth. The wash helps to flush any loose particles that may still be lingering.
With braces or orthodontics your teeth require more help and because it is more work your teeth are at greater risk of becoming unhealthy and decaying from lack of proper care. Take care of your teeth now so that when the braces are off you will have an awesome smile you can be proud of!
