When you have braces you not only have to keep your teeth clean regularly but you now have to keep debris and food particles out of the braces too. Having braces will increase the amount of time you spend on oral health so if you had better get into a good habit of regular flossing and brushing.
In order to get into between the braces and the gums you can hold the toothbrush at a 45 degree angle so that the bristles can get down under the wires. You can also use an electric toothbrush to help with this process. Electric toothbrushes can do many more rotations than a human can get and the head is smaller so it can get to places easier than a normal tooth brush.
It is recommended that you clean the exterior wall of the teeth first and then proceed to the interior walls of the teeth. You also need to be sure to cover all teeth and spend an equal amount of time on each tooth.
In the next post we will cover flossing and mouthwash to help maintain your teeth’s health while you have braces.
