Acne is an unfortunate occurrence in many teens and young adults. It is caused by many factors including clogged pores, dead skin cells and bacteria. Acne leaves noticeable bumps on the face, neck and back area. These bumps can either have a white top (whiteheads) or a black one (blackhead). There are many natural cures that can not only clear up your skin but they can also help to get rid of acne scars. We will take a look at how to get rid of acne scars naturally with lemon juice.
Lemon Juice to the Rescue
Lemons and lemon juice act as a bleaching agent when applied to many surfaces, including skin. When applied to an acne scar the lemon juice will help to fade the discoloration that is left behind.
The juice from fresh lemons can also help to destroy the bacteria which cause acne. A great acne scar treatment is to mix lemon juice and baking soda to help clean the affected area.
The Acne Scar Removal Process
Start the cleaning process by rinsing the face with warm water. Warm water is used to open up the pores so that they can be cleaned. Dip a clean cloth into the cleaning solution.
Starting at the forehead and working downward, use the cleaner in a small circular motion around the skin. This should be done for the entire face and neck areas.
Once finished with cleaning, rinse the face with cold water. Cold water is used to close the pores and keep dirt, grime and bacteria from entering them.
Applying the Lemon Juice
Dab lemon juice onto a cotton ball and pat it over the areas affected by acne scarring. This can be left on for a few minutes but, not long. While lemon juice is great at helping acne it can also dry the skin out severely.
After a few minutes have passed, rinse the face in cold water once again. Never rub the skin to dry it. Take a clean towel and gently pat the water off of the face.
Moisturizing
If the lemon juice is drying the skin applying a moisturizer can help. The best moisturizer or lotions will not contain any type of alcohol or perfumes. Those ingredients tend to dry the skin out even more.
Another natural remedy alternative to store purchased moisturizers is lard. When applying the lard, or moisturizer, do so in an upward motion. Start at the neck and work upward toward the forehead. Never apply makeup or moisturizers to the face in a downward fashion. This will go directly into the pores.
We have looked at how to get rid of acne scars with lemon juice and how it can help to fight acne. The acid in the juice acts as a bleaching agent as well as helping to clean dead skin, bacteria and clogged pores. Next time you notice that pimple coming up head for the lemons instead of the other unnatural acne scar treatments.
