There are different degrees of acne and knowing which one you have and how to properly treat that type will help in becoming acne free quicker. Learning how to get rid of acne fast is more about being familiar with the symptoms and causes so that you can properly treat and hopefully prevent it.
We will put acne into three categories mild, moderate, and severe. Then we can discuss what type of acne falls in each category and how to treat those types properly for the best results.
Mild
This category is the typical whiteheads and blackheads that most people will experience in their lifetime. Every now and then a pimple will sprout up and it is typically at the worst possible time such as the week before a big recital or a job interview.
These are also the easiest to take care of because an over the counter lotion with Benzoyl Peroxide will usually do the trick. Keeping the pores clean and clear of any debris or dead skin is the secret to treating and preventing this mild case of acne.
Moderate
If you have more than just a pimple here and there and that blemish is a bit inflamed and irritated then you may have a case of moderate acne. This breakout will have a slight redness and tenderness associated with it. They can also resemble whiteheads but the redness will let you know if it is a mild or a moderate case.
Inflamed breakouts require a little tougher remedy that will require a prescription from your dermatologist. They can prescribe medicated lotions that will help will skin cell turnover and kill bacteria that lives in the pores.
Severe
Only the bad acne types fall into this group. Cystic acne and nodules are both painful lumps under the skin that are inflamed and very tender. The difference is that nodules are solid lumps whereas cystic acne is pus-filled. They both are from infections deep within the hair follicles and even prescription topical treatments cannot help these beasts.
In this case the dermatologist will have to prescribe oral medications to help battle the breakout from the inside out. In the most extreme cases of cystic acne a laser treatment may be used to help fight the acne under the skin and prevent future breakouts.
These are some of various types of acne and how to properly treat them, but I believe preventing acne all together is the best treatment. There are simple steps that when done daily can reduce the frequency and severity of breakouts. Washing your face daily with your hands and a gentle cleanser will help keep the pores clean and free of bacteria and dead skin.
Another thing to keep in mind is to keep your hands off your face as well as your hair or hat and anything else that can collect oil and transport it to your face. These are just a few steps that can help in the daily fight against acne and help you look your best for whenever life’s pleasant surprises pops up.
