A Hair Remover that Worked for Me

Getting older comes with its benefits, like becoming wise, more understanding and even patient but it also has its downsides like weird hair growth. I am not that old yet but I have begun to notice hair growing in some odd parts of my body. This led me to wonder if I could use hair removal products to get rid of that new and unwanted hair. I was talking with a friend (Janice) about her experience. She told me about the products she used and her results. I wanted to share her hair removing experience with you.

A Hair Remover that Worked for Me

by guest author Janice

I am 52 years old and lately I have been noticing a lot of little hairs on my upper lip and chin. I didn’t look good and I definitely didn’t feel good. When I confided in my husband about it he jokingly said that maybe I should start shaving like him, very funny. I had to find out what my hair removal options where so my first visit was to the nail salon.

Shaving is Not a Good Idea

When I was at my local nail salon, they also do waxing, I asked the technician about shaving my upper lip and chin. She told me that shaving will only make the hair grow back much thicker. She then asked me if I had been shaving. I told her that I didn’t and asked why? She said that the hair on my lip was already pretty thick and that it would need to be waxed. I agreed and nervously asked if it was going to hurt. She replied with a half-hearted “No.”

Wax Hair Removal

I went ahead and tried the waxing hair removal method and guess what — it did hurt. The wax was warm when it was applied to my upper lip and chin. Then the technician quickly peeled the strip off, which had the wax on it, and instantly my upper lip began to throb. The waxing left my lip and chin very irritated. After that ordeal I vowed that was it for waxing. I needed to find some other less painful facial hair removal method.

My Nair Trial

I took a trip to the closest Wal-Mart a week later to see what hair remover products they had. I found a couple of hair removal creams in the same department they had the razors and shaving creams in. The first product that caught my eye was Nair hair removal.

I decided to try the Nair to help in my “upper lip hair removal” mission, as I began to refer to it. I bought a 6 oz tube for only $5.99. I followed the instructions and left it on for five minutes and then wiped it off. Nair left my upper lip really red and irritated but it did not remove most of the hair. I was not happy with the results so I decided to try another product.

The Veet Test

A week later I went shopping for a second product to help remove my facial hair. Maybe this time I would have better results. I remembered a product from the last visit that I had wanted to try it was called Veet Rapid Action Hair Removal with softening oils. I followed the instructions and left it on for 3 minutes. Then I rinsed it off and, to my surprise, it worked!

The hair on my upper lip and chin was gone and my skin wasn’t irritated but instead it was very soft. The 6.76 FL.OZ tube of the Veet only cost $4.99 too. Veet was cheaper than the Nair product and it worked better!

I will continue to use the Veet hair removal for women once every two weeks, as instructed. This product gave me the results I was looking for and it didn’t leave my skin irritated. I highly recommend using the Veet facial hair removal for women next time you need to get rid of some unwanted hair.

This really depends on what area of the body you want the hair removed. Like my friend stated Veet worked for her and that was found at Wal-mart. I have only tried Nair on my chest and that did get the hair off but it grew back in about a week or so and when it did my chest was very, very itchy. My research has found that laser hair removal is the most effective way to get rid of hair. You can look in your local directory for laser hair removal treatment centers.
